Developers are working on new projects to create shopping and entertainment districts on the north side of Oklahoma City.
Projects near Remington Park and Quail Springs Mall will offer upscale shopping, dining and living options, developers said.
Oklahoma City businessman Tom Parrish said he's planning a 20-acre near Remington Park horse track. Parrish said the project will be called The Shops at Remington and will include two hotels and businesses to support the thoroughbred and quarter horse racing community.
"There is a lack of hotel space for visitors and also retails venues that visitors like to visit to buy Oklahoma western gear," he said.
About 10 miles northwest - near May and Memorial - another upscale development is in the works. Developer Larry Owsley is working on Quail Springs Village.
"Our theme is Italian and Tuscany style all the way through the entire 233 acre development," Owsley said.
Owsley said the idea is to bring downtown like districts to the suburbs.
Both developers said they will not share which retailers they have spoke with, but did say they will bring new options to Oklahoma City.
