Beckham County man sues Elk City

Dustin Allen filed a federal lawsuit on Monday against several Elk City Police officers, the City of Elk City and Beckham County after being wrongfully arrested in July 2007.

Dustin Allen filed a federal lawsuit on Monday against several Elk City Police officers, the City of Elk City and Beckham County.

Allen said he was wrongfully arrested after a mistake was made at a Beckham County courthouse in July 2007. Allen, who is openly gay, said he was taken to the city jail, where he says officers began using hateful language toward him.

"I am going to confront this city, this county and I think some changes can be made through our judicial process," said Allen. "I strongly believe in that process."

Allen is suing the city and county for $250,000 dollars for loss of income and other damages.
