I'm a Gulf Coast native, so it's only natural that as a reporter I enjoy standing out in the middle of severe weather. I can remember begging my former news directors to grant me access to the flying debris and hurricane-force winds that forced thousands to seek shelter. I wanted to be in the middle of it, and it happened often.
The weather here in Oklahoma is just one of the reasons I decided to join News 9 last year. I remember hearing the saying "it's hard to impress an Oklahoman" when it comes to the weather outside. I now understand where that saying comes from. The floods, the snow, the twisters and the lightning storms - it's unbelievable some of the things I've seen here.
I thought of this while watching video of a TV reporter in East Farmington, Wisconsin dodge large hail in the middle of a storm.
