Police released a photo of the man who they think is responsible for attacking a woman last week at Northpark Mall.
Emma Williams was inside her vehicle Tuesday waiting for a dinner date when the attacker stabbed, beat and choked her and then drove off in her vehicle, police said.
"There's no indication whatsoever that she knew this guy, has ever known this guy or had any affiliation with him," Sgt. Gary Knight said. "It appears to be a fairly random attack on her."
A man who spoke on the condition of anonymity saw the attack from his home.
"It kept playing in my mind a bit because I could see him, I could see the car as he drove past me," the witness said. "I said ‘I'm watching a killer here who just went past me.'"
He and four other neighbors called 911 as the attacker tried to run over Williams with a car.
"He put it in reverse really hard, and the tires were squealing and he back up and ran onto the yard," the witness said. "She was still screaming, 'he's trying to run over me, somebody help me.'"
