OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police have identified the 11-year-old girl who drowned Friday evening in northwest Oklahoma City.
Stormie Hopson was swimming with friends in her family's above-ground pool when she dove in and did not resurface. Witnesses said a friend helped keep her head above water until a police officer was able to pull her out.
Emergency crews responded to the drowning about 6 p.m. in the 3800 block of NW 9.
The child was transported to Integris Baptist Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The exact cause of the girl's drowning is still unknown.
