EDMOND, Okla. -- Over 40 volleyball teams from around the state came out to Edmond Sante Fe High School to celebrate a life cut short.

Heather Harkness, 17, died last month after an appendectomy.

Now friends and family are celebrating and honoring her life through and annual volleyball tournament.

Heather was an active member of the Sante Fe volleyball team and event organizers hope this tournament will help carry on her legacy.

"Her facebook message said, 'It's not how you live, but it's what you leave behind.' it was kind of profound that she would say something like that because she was the type of person, because she left a legacy behind," Heather's teacher Leslie Campbell said.
