When I hear that someone has paid money to improve their credit - it makes me cringe! There are non profit's out there that will walk you through what to do - for FREE!
One thing you can do is write a "positive statement" and send it to all three credit reporting agencies. In 100 words of less you write why you hit hard times and explain why you have negative information on your credit report. Then the agency attaches it to your report. It doesn't erase your bad credit - but it gives an explanation that someone may take into account if they're looking at your report.
That's just one of the pieces of advice the Consumer Credit Counseling Service gives.
If you want to improve your credit, are in debt and in need of help, or considering bankruptcy - give them a call!
Most of what they offer is completely free. If anything, they can tell you what your rights are as a consumer.
Their number is: 405-789-2227 or toll-free at 1-800-364-2227.
