Man Drives Van into Pond

A man lost consciousness and drove his van into a pond Sunday afternoon, fire officials said. The pond is near SW 74 Street and Portland Avenue.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A man lost consciousness and drove his van into a pond Sunday afternoon, fire officials said. The pond is near SW 74 Street and Portland Avenue.

"He came across the field here, traveled a good 2000 to 3000 feet and ended up in the water. Probably out in the water about 30 to 40 feet," Oklahoma City Fire Battalion Chief Cris Copeland said.

No one was injured. EMSA said the 69-year-old driver and his only passenger, his 87 year old mother, are doing fine.

Authorities are unsure what caused the driver to lose consciousness.
