Old man winter hit northern Michigan again.
Nearly a foot of new snow fell in sections of the state Thursday, resulting in school closings and other shutdowns. More snow is likely for the region through the weekend Saturday and Sunday.
The wave of consecutive snowstorms taxed clean up crews. In Emmett County,
Michigan, crews worked an eight-day stretch to try clear roads and
neighborhoods. Officials said they were already concerned about ramifications
on the county budget.
Cold temperatures will linger through much of the state next week.
