YUKON, Okla. -- Some very deserving kids in Yukon are sure to have a merrier Christmas thanks to the Yukon Police Department.
Yukon officers took fifteen kids Christmas shopping as part of program that allows the department to give back to the community.
Yukon Police Chief Gary Wieczorek said the programs is not only fun but it also teaches these kids a valuable lesson.
"It's the true spirit of Christmas because one of the ideas behind this program is not that we're necessarily just getting something for them, the idea is they are shopping for family members so they are also getting the idea of giving," Chief Wieczorek said.
The money for the shopping trip was all donated by members of the Yukon community.
