CHICAGO (AP) -- Winter is taking a toll on holiday travelers across the northern half of the country.
More than 100 flights have been canceled at O'Hare International Airport, a day after a snowstorm brought the cancellation of more than 500 flights at the Chicago hub. Highway travel has also been hindered by snow and ice storms.
The weather is also causing problems in the Northwest, where part of Interstate 205 has been shut down south of Portland, Oregon, due to snowbanks and ice.
In the Northeast, the story is snow and ice. Police in southeastern Pennsylvania are reporting several ice-related accidents and traffic delays, including a 22-vehicle crash. As a forecaster puts it, "We're seeing quite a bit of messiness out there."
The National Weather Service has posted winter storm warnings and advisories for large parts of the West, a swath of the Midwest and most of the Northeast.
