OKLAHOMA CITY -- Thousands of Sooner fans will be in the stands cheering the Sooners on, and many of those fans left for Florida Tuesday.
Who wouldn't be feeling good about going someplace where you have beaches, warm temperatures, beautiful people, and a beautiful opportunity to show the nation that Oklahoma's football team really is number one?
OU fans from all over the region were checking in at Will Rogers Airport Tuesday, eager to climb on board one of several charter flights to Miami.
Couples, families, old, young, all had varying reasons for going. For some, it's just habit.
"We do go to all of them, yes," one fan said.
The last Miami trip was in 2005, when the Sooners were trounced by USC in the Orange Bowl.
One person who would remember is former quarterback Jason White, who, along with his family, was also heading back there Tuesday.
"It's just a different feeling going as a fan rather than, you know, as a player you're down there for a week and actually playing in the game, so you get to enjoy it a lot more," White said.
Of course, everyone will enjoy it a lot more if OU wins the game, and, not surprisingly, everyone believes that will happen.
"We're gonna take this championship here, this will be number eight for us," one fan said.
