The southern part of the United States has been unseasonably cold and even
communities throughout the Sunshine State have temperatures dipping below
freezing.
In Atlanta homeless shelters were packed . Many of the city's pet and plant
lovers had to bring those inside.
As a city known for its outdoor fountains, residents in Atlanta found a lot of
their watery displays Thursday morning glazed over with ice.
Forecasters are saying the arctic blast will continue to keep a stranglehold
on the region through the weekend.
