Ada Woman Found Hanged in Major Co. Cell

FAIRVIEW, Oklahoma - Authorities are investigating the death of a 47-year-old woman found hanged in her cell at the Major County Jail.

Major County Sheriff Steve Randolph says Rebecca Gould of Ada was discovered hanging from a bed sheet in the cell about 8:40 p.m. Sunday.

Randolph says jailers tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate Gould. The sheriff says Randolph was alone in the cell and that jailers had checked on her just 30 minutes before she was discovered hanging from the top bars in her cell.

He says Gould was being held on felony drug charges in Major County.

Her death is being investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Major County district attorney's office.
