MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- An employee with flu-like symptoms at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Muskogee has tested negative for the H1N1 virus.

Hospital officials said earlier this week that the man had recently returned from Mexico and had symptoms associated with the swine flu.

On Thursday, test results showed the man did not have the H1N1 strain, VA spokesperson Neda McClellan said.

State health officials say they are continuing to monitor the situation and are sending samples to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta for testing.
