OKLAHOMA CITY - Saturday, letter carriers across the state did their part to stamp out hunger. As they dropped off mail, they picked up bags filled with food items.
Volunteers from Devon Energy company helped sort the items before they were sent to the food bank.
"It's so nice to be able to help our community and meet a basic need like helping people who are hungry. It's just another way to give back," Devon Energy volunteer Christina Rehkop said.
Organizers say they collected 425,000 pounds of food, about 13,000 pounds more than last year.
