OKLAHOMA CITY -- Two suspects are in custody after getting into an altercation with two off-duty Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers.

The off-duty troopers were working a security job at the Renaissance Hotel when they heard two individuals assaulting a bus driver. One off-duty trooper tried to help and ended up being assaulted as well.

"They actually knocked the trooper to the ground," Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Chris West said. "The trooper actually, off-duty, did get a shot off, did fire a shot, didn't hit anybody."

OHP says the suspects took off and the off-duty troopers did catch them and the suspects are now in custody.

The off-duty trooper sustained minor injuries during the assault. OHP will investigate the incident.
