PERRY, Oklahoma - Ditch Witch announced this morning that it will reduce its workforce.
The Perry-based company employs about 1,100 people. According to Jeri Briegge, Ditch Witch PR and Advertising Manager, 105 employees were laid off.
"It is very hard to make these decisions when it impacts the lives of our employees and families," Corporate Services Director Dave Lamerton said in a statement this morning. "Even though the reductions were kept to a minimum, every employee is considered a part of our corporate family. Any loss is difficult to deal with in these economic times. Due to the global recession we need to take these measures to ensure the long term health of the company."
Earlier this year, Ditch Witch furloughed workers and offered early retirement packages to cut costs.
