At least 14 people were killed and two others were missing after heavy rain
caused massive flooding, Chinese state media reported on Wednesday.
China's Ministry of Civil Affairs said the flooding started on Sunday in Hunan
and Guizhou Provinces.
CCTV broadcast video of villagers being evacuated from their homes due to the
flooding.
Rescue workers had been sent to Hunan to help with the emergency response.
Eight of the dead were in Guizhou and six in Hunan.
The two missing people were also in Hunan, according to the ministry.
By early Wednesday, about four million people had been affected by the
storm, Chinese media said.
According to Xinhua state news agency, about 16,060 hectares of crops had been
destroyed, and losses were estimated to be around 280 million US dollars,
the ministry of civil affairs spokesman told state media.
