EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is leaving that agency after 15 years to lead a new criminal justice school at the University of Central Oklahoma.
DeWade Langley announced his resignation in an e-mail to OSBI employees sent Tuesday, the same day UCO announced his appointment. Langley gave no effective date for his resignation and a news release from UCO did not include his starting date at the Edmond university.
Langley has worked for the OSBI since 1977 and he became the agency's director in 1995.
UCO President Roger Webb says Langley's experience in law enforcement "means he is well prepared both professionally and academically to lead this newly designed program."
OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown says a seven-member commission will choose a new director for that agency.
