OKLAHOMA CITY -- Emergency officials said five people were injured in a multi-car crash caused by a suspected drunk driver Sunday afternoon.
Oklahoma City police said they were chasing a one-ton pickup truck on N.W. 23rd Street that was traveling at a high speed. Before officers could catch the pickup, it caused two separate crashes.
Police said the first crash involved one other vehicle at N.W. 23rd Street and Portland Avenue. No injuries were reported from the first crash.
The second incident caused a three-car crash at N.W. 23rd Street and Drexel Boulevard. Police said three of the victims were transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The suspect's and victims' names have not been released.
It is unclear what caused the crashes, but police are investigating the possibility the driver was intoxicated. The suspect is in police custody.
