OKLAHOMA CITY -- A battle is brewing between the Oklahoma City Council and the Oklahoma City Public School District. Several council members reportedly made comments about the city council taking over the school district during a recent meeting.
School Superintendent Karl Springer said he's upset over the comments adding it's not the time to suggest those types of changes.
Springer appeared on NEWS 9 This Morning to talk about the situation.
"It's disrespectful to our school board," said Springer. "Eight elected officials who spend hours, lots of hours focused on education, they don't get paid for this."
Springer pointed to some innovative programs designed to help turn the schools around.
