OKLAHOMA CITY -- Republican Mark Costello defeated Democratic incumbent Lloyd Fields to become Oklahoma's next Labor Commissioner.

Costello grew up in Bartlesville and graduated from the University of Kansas. He founded American Computer & Telephone (AMCAT) in 1991. The company was sold in 2007. Costello has been serving as President of USA Digital Communications, a telecommunications company he founded in 1997.

Costello had never held public office before winning Labor Commissioner, but he said his business background will help him attract employers and better paying jobs to Oklahoma.
