The lights are beginning to twinkle, the Christmas music is filling the air, and I'm bracing for the annual onslaught of stupid husband syndrome on TV.
You know what I'm talking about. I already caught a couple of new spots featuring boneheaded husbands doing what they do best, being clueless.
In a commercial for the McRib sandwich, a much smarter wife dares to leave her sandwich in the car with her drooling husband.
Of course she returns to catch him eating it, but with a classic touch. He was at least smart enough to put on their baby's bib to protect his shirt from BBQ sauce.
And in another a wife let's her pea-brained husband choose shopping for the presents or shipping them. He quickly chooses the mall because only she's clever enough to know just how easy shipping is these days.
Humor is a great way to sell products. But can we even it out a bit? Where's the ad agency with the guts to be an equal opportunity offender?
Watch awhile and compare the cheap shots at men compared to those aimed at women. It's not helping us guys.
