EMSA Medics Rescue Family's Christmas Spirit

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Several EMSA medics helped keep a family's Christmas spirit alive by making sure a holiday tradition went on as usual.

Kariann Wright's husband is deployed overseas with the Oklahoma National Guard. The mother of three boys wanted to make Christmas as festive and normal as possible, so she planned to decorate her house with Christmas lights just as the family did every year.

When Wright asked friend and paramedic Danielle Crain to watch her children while she put up the lights, she received much more than a babysitter. An EMSA crew volunteered to do the work for her.

"I had said something to Danielle about doing Christmas lights by myself because the boys really wanted them. And she just started with a couple of people and it turned into tons of guys coming to do everything for me," Wright said.

The medics said they just wanted to share the Christmas spirit and give some joy to the three children missing their father.
