OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City School Board will meet next week to discuss a continuous learning calendar for the entire district, also known as year-round school.

School officials say that kids actually go to school the same number of days, but the calendar year is spread out differently.

If the new program is voted in, children will start classes on August 1, have a longer fall and spring break and get out for the summer on June 1.

An Oklahoma City public school official said CL schools will also get three weeks out for Christmas while other schools only get two weeks. They also said CL schools start classes earlier in August to cut back on students forgetting information over the long summer break.

Seven schools in the metro currently have a continuous learning schedule.
