CHICKASHA, Oklahoma -- Two teenage boys were killed Thursday afternoon when their vehicle slammed into a tree.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 17-year-old Matthew Hoskins was driving a 1994 Chevy on County Street 2760 around 3:30 p.m. Troopers said it appeared Hoskins was speeding and lost control of the vehicle. He overcorrected, crossed the road and hit a tree.

Hoskins was pinned inside the car for 45 minutes and declared dead at the scene. One of his passengers, 15-year-old Evan Raasch was pinned inside the car for about 10 minutes before he was flown by MediFlight to OU Medical Center. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

Fifteen-year-old Brianna Hoskins, the sister of the driver, was also in the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital and is now listed in good condition.

No one in the car was wearing a seatbelt.  Troopers said excessive speed caused the crash.

Grief counselors were on hand at Verden High School where the two teens who were killed attended school. The principal said students and teachers shed plenty of tears.

"You know when you have a kid sitting in your classroom every day and then you show up for class and there's an empty desk, it's a hard thing to deal with whether you're a teacher, a student or an administrator," said principal Clint Shirley.
