OKLAHOMA CITY -- A bill to allow grand prix style racing in Oklahoma City is almost at the checkered flag.
The bill heading to the House would give Oklahoma City the authority to issue permits and charge a fee to conduct racing events sanctioned by national or international racing organizations on city streets.
Two groups have shown interest in holding races in downtown.
The Oklahoma City City Council nixed that plan last year after they were told the city needed to provide nearly $7 million to get the race started.
