I have seen two stories this week that illustrate just how neglectful Washington has been in dealing with illegal immigration once and for all.

One was here in Oklahoma, the other in Hartford Connecticut.

Because Washington has done basically nothing, the Hispanic community is fearful and the word spreads like wildfire when our Highway Patrol sets up driver's license checkpoints on the southside.

The OHP knows some Hispanics, especially those here illegally are driving without licenses or insurance.

If you try to catch them and get them off the road aren't they then obligated to deport them, no matter how much they're contributing to our community?

And today I see Connecticut's highest ranking officials are trying to stop the deportation of a college who will graduate next month, because his parents brought him here illegally from Mexico when he was a toddler.

How do you justify that, the kid is for all intents and purposes an American?

It's not that hard, close the border, give everyone here illegally 6 months to register, then sort out those who are making a contribution to society and deserve to earn citizenship and kick out those who are simply milking the system.

Unbelievable to me that Congress and the President aren't tackling this solvable problem.
