BETHANY, Oklahoma -- Patients were cruising the tropics at the Children's Center in Bethany Thursday as part of the annual spring dance and prom.
The day started Thursday morning with the younger kids enjoying the dance. Volunteers at the Children's Center said the activities are extremely important for the kids.
"If they were to be in the public school they would get to attend their prom. They would get to attend these different functions, and so we want to provide these opportunities to do these same events since they are needing to live here for their medical care at this time. We don't want them to miss out on anything," said Ashley Baumann, special education teacher.
In the afternoon, the older kids donned prom dresses and tuxedo shirts for the prom. Students from Yukon High School even came over to help get the kids ready.
