EDMOND, Oklahoma -- An Edmond church is making a big statement. The Peace Lutheran Church is breaking away from the denomination's main branch.
On Sunday, chuch members voted to cut ties with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, or ELCA. Peace Lutheran says the ELCA is departing from Scripture, including now allowing pastors in same sex relationships.
Peace Lutheran now will be a part of the Hilliard, Ohio-based North American Lutheran Church, a denomination created by groups dissatisfied with the ELCA.
