GUTHRIE, Oklahoma -- Families in some parts of Guthrie say they're thankful to be alive. But many of them are without homes. Emergency managers say at least 50 homes there were damaged or destroyed.
Guthrie police say no one was seriously injured. Neighbors are helping each other pick up the debris. A family of 14 huddled in the cellar of their home on College and 21st last night. They all survived, including a two-year-old and an 8-month-old baby. This grandmother believes an angel was watching over them.
"We prayed, calmed down and covered up," said Vickie Seals, tornado survivor. She says they then recited the Lord's Prayer.
The local high school was also damaged. Guthrie police say classes are canceled for the rest of the year.
