I am shocked that some of my fellow media members are such big wimps. Some blow-hards argue that it would have been better if OU had scheduled a bunch of nobodies this year and been unbeaten rather than schedule BYU and Miami and have suffered two losses. In other words, schedule the path of least resistence. In other words, be a complete sissy!

OU hasn't struggled this season because their schedule is too hard. They've struggled because they've got Heisman winners in slings and All-Americans on crutches. The Sooners can walk around the college football school yard on a yearly basis with their chests puffed out because they aren't afraid to take on the best. The big boys.

Is it easy? No. Is it nobel? Yes. And twice in this decade it has paid off. Twice their schedule has granted them a spot in the national title game. They also owe it to thei fans and the sport to provide good games. And recruits love to hear they'll be playing Notre Dame, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State and Tennessee in the next few years.

Thankfully Bob Stoops and Joe Castiglione aren't as big of wimps as some of my media bretheren.
