So here's the dealio, I was supposed to leave for El Paso at 7am this morning, but my plane had a cracked windshield so we were delayed for 4 hours and we missed our connecting flight in Dallas. Bottom line...barring a standby miracle I'll be at Love Field for the next 8 hours and won't be in El Paso until late tonight. (I suggested flying with the cracked windshield and just looking around the crack, but apparently that's frowned upon.) So I'm pouring through stats and game notes while holiday people watching. Here are some interesting nuggets.
- this will be the 1st time OU has apppeared on CBS since the last time they were in the Sun Bowl in 1993. 157 OU games have been televised on other networks since then.
- I'm travelling with Bob Barry Sr., Michael Dean (producer) and WWE's Jim Ross. Needless to say I haven't had to carry the conversation.
- OU is playing in its 43rd bowl game overall. That ranks 7th nationally.
- Toby Gerhart averaged 185.5 yards per game over his final 4 games against Oregon, USC, Cal and Notre Dame. He has scored a nation's best 26 td's this season.
I just had a standby miracle. Headed to Houston. More to come.
