Ten games into the Thunder season and the most important statistic is not their defensive ineptitude or their lack of three-point shooting. Its not even their off-the-charts free throw shooting.
The most important stat so far for OKC is this. They have been in five games that went to the wire... five games that were decided in the final two minutes or overtime. And they are 5-0 in those five games.
A year ago we were saying this team has to learn how to win games. They have to learn who to get the ball to in crunch time. How to get key stops. What are their go-to plays and spots on the floor? Check, check, check, check, check. Thats the sign of a good team.
Im pretty confident the defense will improve. Im not too awfully worried about that. Im more encouraged by this teams ability to make clutch plays in winning time.
