OU played a great game when the game mattered in its winover Baylor. A convincing win on the road.
Just what they needed before the huge Bedlam game. But OUwill possibly go into that game without a key weapon.
With OU ahead 53-17 in the fourth quarter, Roy Finchsuffered what appears to be a concussion. He and the rest of the Sooneroffensive playmakers had already enjoyed a big night. But reporters, schoolofficials, friends calling, texting, emailing, all have the same question: Whywere Landry Jones and Finch and Broyles and others in the game into the fourthquarter?
Finch was up, moving around and laughing after the game, but it is still possible that he will miss the Bedlam game. OU had already lost Austin Box to injury. Hereinjured his back, the injury that had him out most of the year. He had takenback his starting MLB position and was needed against a challenging OSUoffense.
Jones took several fourth quarter hitsa couple of themcheap shots that you’ve got to expect in an embarrassing rout. He wobbled tohis feet to complete a drive then came back out for the next, before departingfor good.
I know coaches hate to see a big lead and big statisticalnight be lost after the game has been decided. But there are lots of Madus onbenches and lots of people in crimson and cream wanting the Sooners to do whatthey need to do to keep their players healthy.
Especially when your hungry rival awaits.
Dean Blevins
Oklahoma Sports
