YUKON, Oklahoma -- Students from Yukon High School spent a day under the sun to help victims of last week's tornadoes.

A handful of students washed car after car Wednesday afternoon to help raise money for tornado victims.

It appears their generosity and hard work paid off.  The student who organized the fundraiser said one person was kind enough to donate $500.

The high schoolers say it was important for them to help their fellow Oklahomans.

Marissa Hutchinson organized the fundraiser and said, "I just wanted to raise money for the families in Piedmont who lost everything and didn't have insurance and show people that there are people out there that still care about everybody and who want to help out."

As of six o'clock Wednesday evening the group had raised close to $1,200.
