OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office lieutenant will be one of just over 100 law enforcement officials from around the world who will run with the Special Olympics Torch during the final leg leading up to the summer games in Athens, Greece.
Lieutenant Charles Avery and the other law enforcement officials will average running nearly 6-miles per day for almost a one month period.
"It's an honor", Avery said. "The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office has been involved with Special Olympics for the past few years, and to be able to run with the torch and represent Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office in Greece where the summer games are going to be held is amazing."
Avery is scheduled to leave for Greece June 6.
