GUTHRIE, Oklahoma -- Fireworks stands around the state opened for business Wednesday.

The owner of a stand at Waterloo Road and Sooner Road opened at midnight and had her first sale at 1:30 in the morning.

Linda Underwood said the weeks leading up to the Fourth of July will be busy. Her stand is open 24 hours a day.  She does that mostly to prevent theft.

When Underwood sells a firework, she warns customers about the dangers. She is concerned about the dry conditions and wants customers to take extra precautions.

Logan County Commissioners say the county is not under a burn ban and residents are allowed to use fireworks outside city limits.

The city of Guthrie has approved an amendment to the city code that allows fireworks to be sold in city limits.  Residents are also allowed to light fireworks in their yards if they buy a $15 permit and the permit is only good on July 3, 4, and 5.
