OKLAHOMA CITY -- A water main break sent water gushing 50-foot into the air for nearly five hours. This happened near I-240 and Penn. in Oklahoma City at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Oklahoma City crews said they were able to shut the water off at around 7 a.m. and the line was completely repaired around 10:30 a.m.
According to the crew members, the problem was that the heat is causing the ground to contract, and the pipes are breaking as a result.
Because of the heat, city crews say they are dealing with four times as many water line breaks per day than normal.
