SPENCER, Oklahoma – The Spencer Police Department has released the name of a Midwest City man killed during a home invasion.

Police say on Friday, Aug. 12, 21-year-old Tristen Foster and an accomplice forced their way into a family's home near N.E. 36th and Stumpff. Both men had guns.

Police say the couple who lived in the home fought back. They struggled with Foster, while their 16-year-old son struggled with the accomplice. The teen managed to get the gun away from the second suspect.

While the couple fought with Foster, the gun went off. A bullet struck Foster in the chest. He ran from the house and collapsed in a neighbor's yard. He later died at a hospital. His accomplice ran away and has not yet been identified.

It took Spencer police and the State Medical Examiner's Office several days to identify Foster because he was not carrying any identification when he was shot. They sent his fingerprints to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The agency was able to identify him due to previous arrests for drug possession and assault on a Midwest City police officer.

Police notified Foster's family Tuesday of his death. The family says they were worried because they had not heard from him in several days.

Police are now saying they suspect a female may have been involved the crime. Investigators have not released a description of her.
