OKLAHOMA CITY -- The city of Oklahoma City has a new Finance Director.
City Manager Jim Couch has hired Craig Freeman as Oklahoma City's new Finance Director.
Freeman, a 19-year veteran of the Finance Department, has served as the budget director since 2001. As budget director he oversaw the development and implementation of the City's $919 million budget and general fund budget of $364 million.
"Craig's leadership in the Office of Management and Budget for the past 10 years has helped maintain citizen confidence even in times of economic difficulty," Couch said. "Craig brings strong financial management skills and a thorough knowledge of the City organization to this position and will continue to promote best practices in our fiscal affairs."
Freeman replaces Laura Johnson who has been named assistant city manager.
Freeman has a master's degree in urban affairs from the University of Central Oklahoma.
