WOODS COUNTY, Oklahoma – A one-vehicle semi wreck in Woods County has claimed the life of a Cherokee, Oklahoma man early Friday morning, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
This happened at 4:30 a.m. According to the accident report, a Kenworth semi driven by 57-year-old Everett D. Weathers was southbound on County Road 370, when it entered a curve at a high rate of speed, left the roadway to the right and rolled one and a half times, coming to rest on its top.
Weathers was pinned in the semi for three and a half hours before he was freed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say Weathers wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. They have determined the cause of the accident to be unsafe speed on curve/turn.
