NORMAN, Oklahoma – Norman Police Department were cracking down on drunk drivers in Norman over Labor Day weekend. Officers held a DUI checkpoint last Friday night, and they stopped 565 cars.
The checkpoint was held from 11p.m. until 3 a.m., at Wylie Road and West Lindsey Street.
According to police, they arrested five people for driving under the influence, one for drug possession, and one minor in possession of alcohol. They also gave out two tickets for having an open container.
Police say they carried out the project as part of the national effort to increase traffic safety awareness over the Labor Day holiday.
