OKLAHOMA CITY – Friends and co-workers of a liver transplant recipient from Edmond, Oklahoma are hosting a fund-raising garage sale to help the patient with his medical expenses.
According to Cece Robertson, coordinator of the garage sale, this event will help raise funds for John Webb, an employee at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for more than 20 years, who received a liver transplant on January 31, 2011.
"The transplanted liver was indeed a gift of life for John," Robertson said. "But even with the benefit of employer provided insurance, he will face ongoing related Medication and health care costs for the rest of his life."
The garage sale will be held at Edmond Armory, 600 South Bryant Street in Edmond, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 16 and 17, and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 18.
According to Robertson, hundreds of Webb's friends and co-workers have spent their evenings and weekends during the past few months gathering donated items from all over the city to raise money to help their friend.
"This event is one way we can offer support to our friend," Robertson said.
