My 2 Cents: Conference Realignment's Impact On Local Fans

I'm frustrated by what I think is about to happen with OU and OSU joining the Pac 12 Athletic conference. I know it's kind of cool to think about playing USC and UCLA more often, maybe Oregon. But it's not that cool, and it's a lot less practical than playing our neighbors.

I'm frustrated by what I think is about to happen with OU and OSU joining the Pac 12 Athletic conference.

I know it's kind of cool to think about playing USC and UCLA more often, maybe Oregon. But it's not that cool, and it's a lot less practical than playing our neighbors.

Local fans frequently make road trips to Lawrence Kansas, Columbia Missouri, and College Station Texas to watch the Sooners and the Cowboys, I have.

But I'm a lot, A LOT, less likely to FLY to Phoenix, or LA, or Pullman Washington for crying out loud.

If you liked the 9 p.m. OSU kickoff in Tulsa the other night, that dragged past midnight, you're going to love the Pac 12 which is two time zones behind us.

And this apparent disintegration of the Big 12 comes on the very day ESPN has ranked the conference tops in its power rankings.

But Texas got too big for its own britches, started its own TV network and drove away stalwarts like Nebraska and Texas A&M.

I don't even care anymore if Texas comes to the Pac, whatever it is at this point. It's all very disappointing that we won't have a power conference in the Heartland.
