OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police officer Katie Lawson was back on the stand Wednesday morning to detail what she remembers from the day she was ambushed back in August of last year.

Lawson testified that she saw a suspicious looking man who appeared startled when he saw her. She then described seeing the muzzle of a rifle flash and knew shots were being fired in her direction.

"And it was going through my mind, is this really happening?" Lawson said on the stand.

Lawson choked up a couple of times describing in detail what happened. She described feeling and seeing the blood pour down her head and face and feeling fearful and worrying if she was to close her eyes, she would never wake up again.

Vilma Escalante , Hector Escalante and Alex Mercado all face charges of shooting with intent to kill, possession of a firearm and conspiracy. They showed no emotion as Lawson gave her testimony.

More than a dozen fellow officers were in the courtroom Wednesday to hear Officer Lawson's testimony and to show support.
