DALLAS – OU senior defensive back Jamell Fleming has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week.
Fleming had a career-high 13 tackles, including two for losses, against the Longhorns on Saturday and also returned a fumble 56 yards for a touchdown.
He is the second Sooner to receive the weekly award this season.
Javon Harris received the honor for his performance against Florida State.
Because of his award, Fleming will be added to the 2011 Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list. The trophy will be presented to the best player in college football on Dec. 12 in Charlotte, N.C.
