BETHANY, Oklahoma – The Bethany Police Department continued searching Thursday for Cody Perez, a man wanted for questioning in the death of 19-year-old Carina Saunders.
Saunders' body was found October 13 dismembered and stuffed into duffel bag behind the Homeland grocery store at N.W. 23rd Street and N. Rockwell Avenue.
On Wednesday, October 19, Bethany Police announced they were looking for two persons of interest. Hours later, 21-year-old Kyle Tweed arrived at the police department and spoke to investigators. He was released and is no longer a person of interest.
The second man, 21-year-old Cody Perez, has not been located. Police say he was last seen at a convenience store near Interstate 35 and Robinson in Norman. Investigators believe he left the metro area on Tuesday, October 11. He may have hitchhiked to Dallas. Police believe he was heading to California.
Bethany Police Chief Phil Cole says Perez may have information vital to the homicide investigation. He says Perez knew Saunders socially.
