Oklahoma State freshman Cezar Guerrero picked up his first weekly conference honor of the season Monday being named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week.
The Bellflower, Calif. native single-handedly led OSU to a thrilling overtime win over UTSA. Guerrero scored six points in the final 12 seconds of regulation to force overtime. In the extra time he tallied eight of the Cowboys' 13 points to beat UTSA 90-85. He totaled 29 points, five rebounds and five assists in that game—which matched the school record for points scored in a game by a freshman.
On the week, Guerrero finished with 17.5 points per game and shot 44.4 percent from the floor.
The conference also named Texas guard J'Covan Brown its Player of the Week this week. Brown averaged 30 points, 7.5 assists, and six rebounds in the Longhorns two games last week.
Oklahoma State returns to action in the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Tipoff Wednesday Nov. 23 at Madison Square Garden at 6:00 p.m.
